If you’re looking for an under-eye concealer that actually covers dark circles and a cover-up that will blur away blemishes, we can help.
As if choosing the best foundation for your skin type wasn’t already tough enough, finding the right concealer to suit your specific needs is another mission all on its own. We (hi, the Cosmo beauty team) hit up Hourglass’ Executive Director, Marc Reagan, and Bobbi Brown’s Senior Pro Artist, Warren Dowdall, to get some expert advice on finding (and applying) concealer like a pro.
Now when it comes to buying the right concealer, we also have you covered. Concealer is a makeup bag essential, so it’s no surprise that there are endless options. Pretty much every makeup brand has a concealer but not all are created equal. Some are designed for oily skin, while others contain hydrating ingredients (like hyaluronic acid) for dry skin. And some offer medium coverage to brighten your under-eye while others offer full coverage to conceal a spot.

Luckily for you, testing concealers is our job so we’ve reviewed the highest-rated concealers in the UK to bring you a zero bullsh*t guide to the ones that work. Heads up, there are 31 formulas in this edit for every skin type and budget. Told you we take this seriously.
How we test...
So what will you find in this edit? There are cult classics (hi, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer) that have stood the test of time in the Cosmo beauty cupboard as well as new launches that you need to know about (hello, Morphe Wakeup Artist). We’ve taken into consideration budget, skin type, shade range and finish so there’s an option for everyone!
Behold...
Pros
The metal, roller applicator feels cooling on tired eyes - dreamy
The serum-like formula leaves a dewy finish
It's affordable
Cons
It doesn't offer enough coverage to hide an angry pimple
Formula: I didn’t expect to love this concealer but hey, what does this beauty journo know!? If you want your concealer to feel hella hydrated and to give your skin a radiant glow, Wake Me Up is your gal. Being a concealer-foundation hybrid, it packs on enough coverage but has a serum-like consistency that lends a smooth and healthy finish. I’m also obsessed with the cooling metal wand that feels super refreshing on my sleep-deprived eye bags.
Staying power: This stuff sticks around! I always follow up with a loose setting powder (hi, One/Size) albeit it only needs a light dusting to keep it in place.
Shade range: There are 12 shades overall and nine available on the LookFantastic website. Not bad, but there’s lots of room for improvement.
Glowing customer review: “I love love love this. It looks so smooth and feels super hydrating.”

Pros
It's very hydrating and lightweight
It offers a natural finish
There are 28 shades available
Cons
It has buildable coverage but this isn't your gal to cover a spot
Formula: If you haven't seen this concealer floating about on TikTok, then where have you been? I mean, other than it being just about every single influencer's fave, it's Hailey Bieber's, too! Its medium coverage and creamy formula make for an all-natural finish. Think a glazed doughnut base, if you will.
Staying Power: As said in the name, this concealer is brightening, so, is preferably set with a translucent powder. Though, if you have more of a dry skin texture it'll last all day without, too! Hailey proves just that.
Shade range: There are a grand total of 28 shades to choose from.
Glowing customer review: “This is one of my favourite concealers. I find it more hydrating than most and doesn’t settle into my creases.”

Pros
There are 44 shades! Well done, MAC. Well done.
It offers full coverage without creasing
The staying powder is 10/10
Cons
It sits on the pricy end of the spectrum
Formula: Whether it's a blemish you're attempting to 'guise or dark under eyes à la a long night out on the town you need to mask (read: bc you're at work...), there is nothing MAC's brand new Studio Radiance 24hr Luminous Lift base product can't conceal.
The formula itself is filled to the brim with nourishing goodness, made up of 80 per cent skincare ingredients, including niacinamide, vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. Plus, its medium-buildable coverage is ideal for day-to-night wear without feeling thick, heavy or claggy on the skin.
Simply dot, swipe and glow to conceal and reveal a fresh, brighter-looking undereye!
Staying power: Once set in place with a powder of your choice, this concealer will stay put all day long. I have recently put it to the test, wearing it at a number of all-day festivals and during many 8+ hour work days, and there has been no sign of separation, cakiness, setting in lines/wrinkles or general wear. Keep looking fresh with MAC from dawn 'til dusk, peeps.
Shade range: The brand pulled through with a whopping 44 shades of this concealer – as they should. Find your shade match on their website, here.
Glowing customer review: “This has to be one of the creamiest concealers without it being drying! I've always loved mac but this product is absolutely beautiful with the skincare ingredients and the flawless finish it has.”

Pros
It's £5 – need I say more?
It offers full coverage, concealing anything from a pimple to dark circles
Hello shade range, we see you!
Cons
Requires a setting powder to keep it in place
Formula: Oh, hey old friend! You're back! That's right the OG Collection Lasting Perfection concealer has had a shiny upgrade. It now has a more extensive shade range with a larger doe-foot applicator, but still delivers full coverage whilst being lightweight and easy to blend. The formula is also infused with hyaluronic acid and jojoba seed oil, so it won't settle into fine lines.
Staying power: Lasting from day to night, desk to dancefloor, although I’d layer on a setting powder JIC.
Shade Range: 27 shades, ranging from deep to fair.
Glowing customer review: “This formula is to die for. I've used the original since the Zoella days and was so excited to hear about this release. It's light weight yet coverage is so good and buildable. Super brightening under the eye and doesn't crease.”

Pros
It offers buildable coverage without turning dry or cakey
The large, spongey wand makes application easy
Cons
It needs to be layered to completely cover a pimple
Formula: No lie, this is one of my fave concealers *ever* and I have tried loads. Firstly, I’m low-key obsessed with the fluffy wand that packs on the perfect amount of concealer. Then, there's the oh-so creamy formula that provides buildable coverage while giving a healthy, dewy sheen to my under-eye (not that I was staying up in a Netflix bingeathon).
Staying power: It’s Morphe we’re talking about – of course this is going to last from day to night. And, what’s better, it stays on without creasing or turning dry.
Shade range: There are 24 shades on the Sephora website, including a few colour correction shades.
Glowing customer review: “I love this. I cannot believe how well it matched my skin tone. This will now be a staple of my makeup bag. Great for every day use to hide any blemishes.”

Formula: The Haus Labs concealer is a new-found fave and the vegan formula has recently made its way into my everyday routine – and that's because of its medium-buildable coverage with a lightweight feel. Bye-bye dark circles!
However, not only is it soothing and calming under the eyes thanks to the inclusion of fermented arnica (an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredient used in skincare to decrease puffiness), but it's also non-comedogenic. For those lucky enough not to know, this means that the formula and ingredients will not clog pores and is perfect for those with acne-prone skin.
Staying power: Finding a non-crease concealer is like waiting for rain in a drought, useless and disappointing (shoutout to the ones who get the ref!). However, Gaga's triclone formula dries down pretty matte, stays all day and has minimal creasing. Set in place with the Bio-Blurring Talc-Free Loose Setting Powder for a fail-safe satin finish.
Shade range: The product is available in 31 unique shades, ranging from fair to deep. To find out yours visit their website and take the handy 'shade finder' quiz.
Glowing customer review: “First time trying Haus Labs and it will definitely not be the last. Most incredible shade range and match is flawless. Can’t wait to try more.”
Pros
It's friendly on the budget
It has great coverage and lasts the day
Cons
It's prone to creasing so do a full, hydrating skincare routine before
Formula: When I say a little goes a long way, I have never meant it more than with this concealer. A small dot of the doe-foot applicator can cover your entire under-eye and it’s super-pigmented. This is for you if you want a picture-perfect base.
Staying power: The matte finish has staying power but it did succumb to a tiny bit of creasing at the end of the day.
Shade Range: 26 shades
Glowing customer review: “I am so pleasantly surprised with this concealer for the price. It's full coverage and does not crease. It also looks good all day. I will never buy expensive concealers ever again!”

Pros
It does a stellar job at counteracting dark circles
It's very lightweight and doesn't crease under makeup
Cons
Too much product can result in an un-natural look
Formula: OK, OK, while this isn’t technically a concealer, it’s, arguably, just as important – particularly for those who suffer from discolouration and dark spots. Enter: Huda Beauty’s colour corrector. Use this lil orange bad boy before concealer and watch discoloration and uneven dark circles disappear before your very eyes. Purple, blue, brown or shadowed complexion concerns? I don’t know ‘em! It’s creamy in consistency and blends out seamlessly.
P.S. Don’t let the colour throw you off. Your concealer will counteract the corrector, making for a brighter and more even tone.
Staying power: Layering a number of base products onto the skin may seem daunting but this colour corrector is super lightweight and goes pretty unnoticed. It doesn’t crease and stays all day.
Shade range: Huda Beauty’s Faux Filter Color Corrector is available in seven shades (six on LookFantastic); the peachier tones cancel out darkness and pigmentation in warmer undertones while the pinker shades work for cooler undertones to create even skin or a blank canvas for other complexion products.
Glowing customer review: “Want to look like you've slept for days? Use this. As a brown skinned girly, I can't recommend enough!”
Pros
It blends seamlessly, leaving a dewy finish
Cons
Sometimes it can turn dry throughout the day, so keep a hydrating facial mist on hand
Formula: This is the exact concealer formula I expected REFY to launch – lightweight, serum-based and a creamy dream to apply. Working on that 'clean girl' aesthetic that Jess Hunt so effortlessly pulls off, the formula has enough oomph to brighten the under eye and fade pigmentation. You may need something a little thicker to cover a pimple, but it keeps the skin looking naturally blurred and radiant.
How's it done? The key ingredients are brown algae extract and phytosqualane (vegetable squalane), both working to enhance hydration for as long as you wear it. You can wave goodbye to dry and flakey under eyes with this in hand.
Staying power: This concealer puts to bed the misconception that light and creamy formulas will vanish by midday. It stays all day and, thanks to the hydrating ingredients, it doesn't crease or cake. Mist the new Face Setter over top and you've got a makeup look that isn't going anywhere.
Shade range: 24 shades ranging from fair to deep with a variety of undertones.
Glowing customer review: “I love the formula. It’s thick enough to cover but light enough that it doesn’t crease. Love it!”

Formula: I've slept on this concealer for farrrr too long. I know, I know, nearly £40 for a concealer isn’t the kinda price tag us girlies-on-a-budget wanna see, but if you happen to come across some b-day money or a lucky win on a scratch card, this is what I suggest you spend your £££ on. It’s one of the creamiest concealers I've come across with a stunning, serum-like consistency that instantly sinks in. It's brightening and dewy = concealer of dreams.
Staying power: This may be a lightweight concealer but it sticks around like my fave full-coverage formulas. You just need a few layers to cover a pimple and some setting powder to keep it in place.
Shade range: There are only 12 shades.
Glowing customer review: “This provides a great medium level coverage and it doesn’t look cakey. It’s also super easy to blend. I’m surprised not enough people are talking about it.”

Formula: When you're Kim Kardashian's MUA, your pro-performance skills and ability to conjure up an innovative makeup formula is never doubted – and rightly so, seeing as Mario really has created the best of the best with this concealer. In other words, it's a makeup bag staple!
Now, although I tout myself as a 'full-coverage skeptic', this concealer really did debunk any hesitance I had, visibly lifting, blurring and brightening my under eyes, dark spots and blemishes all in one. Plus, its creamy, light-weight blend of ingredients are, surprisingly, self-mattifying, meaning that there's no need to powder!
Staying Power: Generally, I first apply my concealer at 7am and then take off my makeup circa 8pm – that is, on an 'I'm working in the office' day. And while my skin type is the definition of oily, this formula really does stay put for over 12 hours. Impressive, much?
Shade range: 22 shades – ranging from light, light-medium, medium, medium-dark and dark.
Glowing customer review: “This is so good. It literally covers everything. It’s exactly my shade and it looks so natural.”
Pros
The sponge-tip applicator makes application a breeze
It sinks seamlessly in, leaving a hydrated and glowy finish
It lasts a long, long time
Cons
It can crease throughout the day, so make sure to set it with a loose powder
Formula: For starters, let's talk about the applicator. A squidgy, nifty sponge, that allows you to sweep it on and blend seamlessly, with ease. We especially love how easy it is to apply beneath your eyes – aka, the place it's most tricky to do, without creasing and cake. It's one of those clever concealers that manages to give high coverage but is lightweight and hydrating. So, no need to worry about it clinging to dry patches.
Staying Power: The brand claims that the concealer offers up to 12 hours of moisturising wear, but I must disagree. When set with powder, I could go up to 20 hours if I had to without it budging! There's a reason one is sold every 6 seconds!
Shade range: Available in 15 shades with a range of undertones perfect for highlighting.
Glowing customer review: “This concealer is an essential item in my makeup bag. It last ages and the twist dispenser means you get every last drop of product.”

Best concealer for ultra-high coverage (with zero caking)
Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Touch Concealer
Pros
It has super high coverage
The formula sticks around without creasing
A little amount goes a long way
Cons
Some may find the texture is too thick
Formula: Anastasia Beverly Hills has proved (once again) that she’s the queen of our make-up bag, with this A* formula. The concealer is packed with pigment, making it ideal for high-coverage fans. It’ll cover up pretty much anything – spots, pigmentation, a late-night Grey's Anatomy binge session…
Staying power: One of the best we've tried, it'll stay put all day.
Shade range: 25 shades
Glowing customer review: “I tried this concealer for the first time and was amazed at the staying power, through humidity and heat my makeup look didn’t budge!! Nothing has come close in terms of the finished look and its long lasting effect!”
Formula: We've all heard about the famous Il Makiage foundation - well, unless you've been on a digital detox. The super-star formula has made waves all over social media thanks to its impeccable coverage and blurring formula.
Lucky for us, the brand has also concocted a wonderful concealer that delivers high coverage with no caking. It's oil-free, blurring and gives a smooth matte finish.
Staying Power: The long-lasting, matte formula stays put, without the need to set with powder.
Shade range: There are 30 shades to choose from in a range of diverse undertones.
Glowing customer review: “This hides my dark circles, it's very light and it lasts all day long. This is a keeper!”
